Independence Days

An Independence Day is the day someone no longer needs us. The day a family signs a lease they keep on their own. The day a paycheck covers the groceries. The day a veteran stops sleeping in his car and settles into a home that's his. Every year, VOA Colorado works alongside thousands of Coloradans as they build toward that day.

This season, give the gift of independence.

Working alongside people in the Denver Metro, Northern, Southern, and Western regions of Colorado.

One Independence Day

Antonia Is the One Helping Now

A few years ago, Antonia was raising four little ones and nearly lost her home. Today, her kids are ahead in school, and she brings other families to VOA.

Antonia’s Independence Day

Antonia’s Independence Day came when she was able to keep her family in their home. Now she helps other families find the support they need to move forward.

“Now, I actually help out other parents and introduce them to VOA’s programs.”

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is an Independence Day?

It's the day someone no longer needs VOA Colorado's support. It might be a lease kept for a year, a paycheck that covers the bills, or a senior staying safely in the home they love. It looks different for everyone, and it's the goal of everything we do.

How does VOA Colorado help people reach independence?

Through housing, nutrition, community, and volunteer-powered programs across Colorado. We meet people where they are, stay with them through the steps in between, and measure whether their stability lasts.

How does my gift help create more Independence Days?

Your gift funds the ongoing work that makes independence last, such as case management, housing support, and follow-up. It doesn't pay for a moment of relief. It pays for the work that makes relief unnecessary.

Does my gift stay in Colorado?

Yes. Gifts made through this page support VOA Colorado’s programs in communities across the state.

Can I help without making a gift?

Yes. Volunteers deliver meals, mentor children, and staff programs in every region we serve.

Volunteers of America Colorado is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
